I went to Ga Tech during the days of Mark Price, John Salley, Kenny Anderson, Dennis Scott, etc. It was a fun time for Tech basketball and the former Alexander Memorial Coliseum was a fantastic venue. We'd camp out for student tickets to the big ACC games like Duke, Carolina, etc.

I took my son to the newly renovated McCamish Pavilion for a Tech game and I'm feeling hopeful about Tech's return to elite basketball. Coach Brian Gregory has the alums excited; Bobby Cremins is back as an "ambassador" (recruiting); and the new arena is beautiful.

Having said all that, Tech has started off 0-2 in the ACC and .500 in conference play is a stretch...

I graduated from Roswell High and was at Duke during those days; in '86 our only losses prior to losing to Louisville for the Natl Champ (Pervis Ellison!) was at Tech (Price/Salley) and at UNC. Went to '83 ACC Tourney in Omni where saw the Cardiac Pack begin their run. Alexander was a raucous, fun spot for games - - and saw them some cool shows there in the day. Still have friends at WREK. A ramblin' wreck from Ga Tech...

A friend was recently talking about this video. I saw Hurley a bunch, but don't recall seeing Mackey's pick/foul.

Ouch!

Out of all the guys I saw in those years, Len Bias is the one that still stands out in my mind. That ACC Tourney Championship in 84 he was the man. It was great for my years b/c Duke sucked my freshman year (year UVa beat them by 43 in ACC Tourney) and since signed up for ACC Tourney tix, was guaranteed the same my four years. That '86 season I caught every home and post-season game plus away games for Ga Tech, UVa, UNC, Wake and Md. We spent spring '86 tour bouncing b/w shows and games.

And how UNC with a line-up of Sam Perkins, Kenny Smith, Brad Daugherty, Matt Doherty and Michael Jordan as starting five could not hang a banner...
